Tinder Explore Tab Gone? Why Events Replaced It, and What to Do

Your Explore tab disappeared and a calendar icon showed up instead. Tinder says that’s on purpose: where its new Events feature is live, Explore is temporarily unavailable. Here’s what changed, where Events is available and what you can do.

Troubleshooting · Tinder · New feature

Key takeaways

  • Tinder’s Help Center says that while Events is available to you, the Explore tab is temporarily unavailable. You’ll find Events behind the calendar icon on the bottom toolbar.
  • Events launched as a Los Angeles pilot in March 2026. On July 23, 2026 Tinder added nine more cities in the US and Europe, and it’s still adding more.
  • Tinder doesn’t document a setting to switch Events off and bring Explore back, and hasn’t said whether Explore returns in Events cities.
  • No calendar icon and Explore is still missing? Then it’s more likely an app or account issue. Update, restart and check your location settings.
  • Events needs Photo Verification for full access, and people who attended can match afterward, so your photos matter even more.

Why did the Explore tab disappear on Tinder?

Because Tinder is rolling out Events. Where Events is available, an Events tab with a calendar icon takes Explore’s place, and Tinder’s Help Center (opens in a new tab) describes Explore as “temporarily unavailable” while Events is available to you. It’s a deliberate product change, not a bug on your phone.

So if it looks like Tinder Explore was replaced with Events, that’s what happened in your city. The same goes for an Explore page that’s suddenly gone or an Explore button that disappeared overnight.

Tinder launched Explore in September 2021 (opens in a new tab) as a home for browsing profiles by interest, with tiles like Foodies, Gamers and Music Lovers, plus interactive features such as Swipe Night and Hot Takes. Events now uses the same spot in the toolbar to show real-world, in-person events near you.

What is Tinder Events?

Tinder Events is an in-app tab that lists curated, in-person events near you, such as trivia nights, ceramics classes, beach tennis, live music and mahjong nights, so you can meet people in a lower-pressure group setting. Tinder announced it on March 16, 2026 (opens in a new tab), at its first Product Keynote, starting with a pilot in Los Angeles.

According to Tinder’s July 2026 announcement (opens in a new tab), it works like this:

  1. Step 1

    Open the Events tab

Tap the calendar icon and browse upcoming local events.

  2. Step 2

    Mark “Interested”

See who else is interested. Tinder requires Photo Verification for full access.

  3. Step 3

    RSVP or buy a ticket

Independent organizers create, manage and sell tickets for the events.

  4. Step 4

    Check in and match

Checking in earns an “Attended” badge, and you can match with others who attended.

Tinder also announced a video speed-dating pilot (opens in a new tab) in Los Angeles, with short scheduled video chats as a “vibe check” before meeting. Treat that as a separate, limited test rather than part of Events everywhere.

Is Tinder Events in my city?

As of Tinder’s July 23, 2026 announcement, Events was live in Los Angeles (the pilot) and nine more cities. Tinder said it aimed to reach 26 cities by the end of September 2026, and TechCrunch reported in August (opens in a new tab) that Tinder expects 75 cities by the end of 2026. Tinder hasn’t published the full updated list, so more cities are likely live than the ones below. The app is the final word: if you see the calendar icon, Events is live for you.

  • Los Angeles · pilot
  • New York City
  • Dallas
  • Denver
  • Kansas City
  • Phoenix
  • Berlin
  • Munich
  • Zurich
  • Geneva

Cities named in Tinder’s press releases of March 16 and July 23, 2026. Tinder expects many more by the end of 2026, so yours may already be live even if it isn’t listed.

How do I get the Explore tab back on Tinder?

If Events is live for you, you can’t bring Explore back yourself right now. Tinder doesn’t document a toggle to remove the Events tab, and its own wording is that Explore is temporarily unavailable while Events is available to you. Tinder hasn’t announced when, or whether, Explore returns in Events cities.

What you can do:

  • Keep the app updated. If Tinder brings Explore back or moves it, that will arrive in an app update.
  • Use Events instead. Marking yourself “Interested” in an event is the closest thing to Explore’s interest-based browsing.
  • Watch Tinder’s Help Center. The Events article (opens in a new tab) is where Tinder documents what happens to Explore.

Tinder Explore not working or missing, but no Events tab?

Tinder Explore missing and no calendar icon anywhere? Then Events probably isn’t the reason. Work through these:

  • Update Tinder from the App Store or Google Play, then fully close and reopen it.
  • Log out and back in. It refreshes your account features.
  • Check your location. Features vary by market, so confirm location access is on and accurate.
  • Check whether others have the same problem. If many people report it at once, wait it out.
  • Reinstall as a last resort. Your matches and messages belong to your Tinder account, not to the app on your phone.

Why your photos matter more with Events

Events moves the first impression offline, but your profile still does the work before and after. People see who else is “Interested,” and after the event you match with people who were in the same room. That means:

  • Your photos need to look like you, today. People will compare your profile with how you looked at the event.
  • A clear, solo lead photo helps. It makes it easy to recognize you in a list of attendees.
  • Photo Verification needs a clear face. Group shots and sunglasses don’t help here.

Tinder Explore and Events FAQ

Why is the Explore tab gone on Tinder?

Tinder is rolling out Events, a tab for in-person events. Tinder’s Help Center says that while Events is available to you, the Explore tab is temporarily unavailable. You’ll find Events behind the calendar icon on the bottom toolbar.

Did Tinder replace Explore with Events?

In cities where Events is live, yes, for now. Tinder describes Explore as temporarily unavailable while Events is available to you, and hasn’t announced when or whether Explore returns in those cities.

Where is Explore on Tinder now?

If you see a calendar icon on the bottom toolbar, Events has taken Explore’s place for you. If you don’t see a calendar icon and Explore is missing, update the app, restart it, log out and back in and check your location settings.

How do I get Explore back on Tinder?

If Events is live for you, Tinder doesn’t document any setting to remove the Events tab or restore Explore. Keep the app updated, since any change from Tinder would arrive in an update.

Can I remove the Events tab on Tinder?

Tinder hasn’t documented any option to hide or remove the Events tab. You don’t have to use it.

Which cities have Tinder Events?

Events started as a Los Angeles pilot in March 2026. On July 23, 2026 Tinder added New York City, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Phoenix, Berlin, Munich, Zurich and Geneva. It aimed for 26 cities by the end of September 2026, and TechCrunch reported 75 cities expected by the end of 2026. Check the app for a calendar icon to confirm it’s live where you are.

Do I need to be verified to use Tinder Events?

Tinder says Photo Verification is required for full access to Events, including marking yourself as Interested and seeing who else is interested.

Is Tinder Events free?

Tinder says independent organizers create, manage and sell tickets for the events, and you RSVP or buy tickets through Tinder’s ticketing partners. Check each event for its price.

Can you match with people from Tinder Events?

Yes. Tinder says you can check in at an event to get an Attended badge and then match with others who attended.

Is the Explore tab missing a bug?

Usually not, if you see the calendar icon: that’s the Events rollout. If there’s no calendar icon, it may be an app or account issue, so update, restart, log out and back in, and check location access.

Bottom line

If your Tinder Explore tab is gone and you now see a calendar icon, Events has reached your city, and Tinder says Explore is temporarily unavailable while Events is available to you. There’s no documented switch to bring it back. If there’s no calendar icon, treat it as an app issue: update, restart, check location and log back in.
