How we write our dating guides
How the guides on the ProfileMax blog are researched, written, dated and corrected.
The short answer
- Our guides are written and reviewed by the ProfileMax team. When a guide explains how a dating app works, it relies on that app's official help center first and links to it.
- Every guide shows when it was published and last updated, and we update it when an app changes a feature it describes.
- ProfileMax is independent and not affiliated with any dating app. To report a mistake, email info@getprofilemax.com.
Official sources first
When a guide describes how an app works (its settings, features or rules), we start from that app's own documentation and link to it next to the claim, so you can check it yourself. The sources our guides cite include:
- Tinder Help Center
- Hinge Help Center
- Bumble Support and Bumble's own published tips
- OkCupid Help Center
Where an app doesn't document something, such as exactly how it ranks profiles, the guide says it isn't known rather than guessing. Profile advice in a guide is our own view and is presented as advice, not as a rule of the app.
Who writes the guides
The guides are written and reviewed by the ProfileMax team and published under the team's name rather than a named individual. ProfileMax is operated by Elgiv Ltd. (company no. 516471059), 4 Nissim Aloni St., Rosh HaAyin, Israel. More about who we are is on the About page.
Dates and updates
Every guide shows two dates under its title: when it was published and when it was last updated. We update a guide when an app changes a feature it describes, and the updated date changes with it.
Corrections
If you find something wrong or out of date, email info@getprofilemax.com with the page address and what needs correcting. If we confirm the mistake, we correct the guide.
Independence
ProfileMax is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, OkCupid or any other dating app. App names are used only to describe which app a guide is about.
What our guides don't do
- Promise matches, replies or dates.
- Publish made-up statistics, testimonials or research findings.
- Claim to know how an app's algorithm works beyond what the app itself says.
The same limits apply to MAX, our AI dating coach. How MAX reviews photos, and what it can't do, is explained in How MAX reviews photos.
